Metra: A Climate Revolution with Songs
Metra is an original musical fiction podcast about how we change the world.
The year is 2043. The world is hot, water is scarce, the weather is unpredictable…and the fossil fuel industry continues to thrive. The wealthy are comfortable in their air-purified, cooled, humidified, superbly hydrated Bubble cities. But in a roadside bar on the Outside, an unlikely group of revolutionaries is about to demand a new story.
Starring Tony-nominee Jeannette Bayardelle and a Broadway and NYC theatre cast. Metra weaves ancient myth, transformative magic, and memorable music to tell the story of a dangerous climate future, and the fight for the world we deserve.
Written and created by The Hartfords.

Sample script: "Hi, I'm ________ and I'm calling to urge ________ to stand strong against Governor Hochul's proposed rollbacks to the climate law. Now more than ever, we need clean and renewable energy to protect New Yorkers from volatile fossil fuel prices and the worst impacts of climate change. Loopholes and accounting tricks won't drive good energy policy that we desperately need."
Provide your zip code if asked and thank them for taking your message.
Why this is important:
The New York Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), passed in 2019, is one of the nation's most ambitious climate laws. The Act sets the goals to reduce emissions to 40% below 1990 levels by 2030 and then to 85% below 1990 levels by 2050. The law forces shifts to renewable energy, energy efficiency standards, and green construction.
Now, Hochul is using the budget process to destroy a law that New Yorkers voted for.
Please call!

SPEAKER_00A serial scripted audio podcast produced and mixed by Tom Bowley. Hey, Ned Hertford here with an emergency action request of you. You're gonna see some phone numbers to call in the show notes. Those phone numbers are for the heads of the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate. And you gotta call those people because the New York State Governor Kathy Hogle is trying to unilaterally gut the New York Climate Leadership and Citizens Protection Act, the premier climate law in maybe the whole of the United States. And the governor has taken millions and millions of dollars from the fossil fuel industry, the crypto industry, and the AI industry who all want this legislation to God, and the fossil fuel companies want to tie it to fossil fuels forever, and the natural gas companies want all the limits on climate destroying, methane taken out, and the AI and crypto companies want to start building all these data centers that use huge amounts of power, huge amounts of water, and create tons of pollution. And not only have these companies given the governor millions and millions of dollars and got the law, and all these companies hired Hogel's husband's law firm to represent them. So many conflicts of interest and so much corruption. Now Hogel's trying to use the budget process as a way to unilaterally overthrow the will of the people who do the democratic process and put this law into place. But she doesn't like democracy. Nothing's gonna stop the governor from doing this. He's taking too much money from these people. So what we have to do is we have to call the state in an interstate legislature and force them to grow and stand up with a whole corruption. Now the day this episode comes out, you've only got two days to make these phone calls. Make them today. Today you're hearing this Wednesday and Thursday. Because then public comments called we've only got Wednesday and April 29th and Thursday, April 30th. Whether you live in New York State or anywhere in the United States, anywhere in the world, if you live in some country halfway around the world, just call and tell them that the eyes of the world are on the New York State legislature right now. And I've fallen a little behind with doing the engineering for the cast album because I've been up in Albany protesting. I even got arrested up there. So please make those phone calls. We got a little bit of music this week, and we're gonna have more in the future. Hope you like it. Thanks so much.
SPEAKER_06No, not again! A goddess he defied. He gladly committed Hall side who dares to be such a royal dick on his majesty.
SPEAKER_02You make that all sound like it's a bad thing. I am arrested. Everything I pays on my motherfucking Destiny scroll on the scrolls, and I drink the best pose and roll this world. It's mine to use. However the fuck I want cut down any fucking trees I want. Who the fuck is gonna stop me?
SPEAKER_06The news of Arasick Thun's behavior so bad gets back to series and she gets mad.
SPEAKER_01Oh stupid, selfish man. Arrogance, indolence, decadence. Did you think you were a god? Did you think there'd be no consequence? Claiming innocence, pleading ignorance, with a winking eye.
SPEAKER_04Did you think you could float above it all?
unknownWhat were you thinking?
SPEAKER_04Get ready for a last he fall for you in all you love.
SPEAKER_05On the way to the castle of a signal I creep down down, stopping at a door. Here's a star which swings open right at my touch. Skattering into his room while he sleeps. I climb atop him. I wrap my icy wings around and embrace him like a lover. Does the world exist for your rape and plunder? Then I give to you for me the gift of living.
SPEAKER_03Now say goodbye to all you love. Say goodbye to all you love. Say goodbye to all you love.
SPEAKER_02I'm hungry. God, I'm hungry.
